NORMAL - Twin Cities students got a heavy dose of African culture during art class.

Dayo Laoye visited students at Fairview Elementary as part of local partnership designed to bring art and culture to the Bloomington-Normal area.

Laoye is Nigerian, and students loved learning about his accent and his works of art.

They also got a chance to paint step-by-step with Laoye. He says the visit to the school brings back many fond memories of his elementary days.

"I've been more inspired than they thought I've inspired them. It's been an interesting day, to hear all their stories that I've been told visually,” said Laoye.

Earlier in the day, Laoye stopped by Bloomington High School and Country Financial. There he also taught a workshop on art.
