GALESBURG - The Galesburg community is still playing the waiting game tonight.
Bargaining teams got back to negotiating once again Wednesday morning after hours without an agreement Tuesday night.
They’ve been in negotiation all day and there is no word when they plan on stopping.
It was quite a different atmosphere in Galesburg, Wednesday night.
All the teachers were picketing outside the district office during the day.
As the day wore on, the teachers were replaced with community members.
Dozens of parents and children came out to the negotiation site.
Kids were running around, kicking soccer balls and socializing.
One parent tells us she just wants her kids along with the rest of the community to get back to normal. She thought this little gathering would be a way to share their stance, which is getting kids back as soon as possible.
A few union members did deliver some dinner to the bargaining teams, but neither side nor the federal mediator have shown any signs of when the meeting might wrap up.
A retired teacher went into the building with a pillow in hand around 3:30 this afternoon, and was arrested by the police.
He has been charged with criminal trespassing and has been given a notice to appear.
