East Peoria Community High School teamed up with the American Red Cross and 105.7 the “X” for the event. This is the 8th year they have partnered up.
This year, the drive is in honor of East Peoria student Morgan Ciota. She was killed in a car accident earlier this year.
“The need for blood is constant during the summer and even though the numbers still go down,” East Peoria junior and volunteer Mike Rundle said. “That’s why we do this for Morgan, because the accident victims are one of the main things that the blood goes to.”
Ciota helped organize the blood drive back in 2009.
