PEKIN - The rain didn't stop runners in Pekin from helping doctors afford to do medical work in Africa.

The Pekin Hospital hosted the second annual "Dash at Dusk" race this evening.

More than 300 runners participated in a 5K, a mile walk, and a kids run.

The money raised will help hospital workers go and perform medical work in Liberia.

Organizer Shannon Stubbs said, "We feel, as a team, that it is very important to not only look after each other within the hospital, but our community, as a second part, and the third tier is worldwide."

The hospital hopes to raise $5,000 at this year's dash.
