PEORIA - A group of local barbers offered free services on Monday to those needing a trim.

The move is a part of the inaugural “Haircuts for the Homeless” program.

It was put on by the Salvation Army.  The program is meant to help homeless clients that are in search of a job or housing.

One man who got a haircut Monday said the program is a great resource for the area.

“I was definitely needing a haircut really bad. I haven't had one since before December of last year. I got hurt on a fall, so it's put me out of action for a while.”

Thomson says after nearly a year, it was nice to get his hair cut the way he used to wear it.
