Floor amendments to a bill which would dramatically change the way schools in Illinois are funded was referred Wednesday to the Illinois Senate Education and Executive Committees. The legislation would streamline the state's school funding formula by requiring districts to show need before receiving money. The bill's sponsor believes the legislation will create equity between richer and poorer districts.
