PEORIA – WMBD 31 is your local election headquarters. We’ve been following the Republican Gubernatorial Race closely. On Tuesday, one of the candidates made a stop in the River City.

State Senator and candidate Bill Brady is traveling across Illinois in the final week leading up to the primary election.

Brady spoke to the media at the Cornerstone building in Peoria Tuesday morning, before heading to Macomb and Quincy.

He said he has a proven track record and he’s still confident he’ll be the GOP nominee. Brady said, "At the end of the day, they know I'm a true, tried, tested Republican, the only reliable Republican in this race. I've proven we can win votes in Illinois by winning 98 of 102 counties and our support is growing every day and we fully predict that 8 days from today we will be the nominee."

According to the Chicago Tribune, Bruce Rauner is leading the pools. Kirk Dillard is in second, Brady in third, and Dan Rutherford trailing in fourth.
