Special Olympics Bowling Tournament Draws Top Talent

PEORIA - The local branch of the Special Olympics held one of their top competitions of the year.

Two hundred and eighty athletes competed in the Special Olympics Illinois Heartland Area 6 Bowling Tournament today.
The top bowlers will move on to a national competition.

Organizers say this is one of their most competitive and well-attended events of the year.

“Singles bowler who are bowling some really high scores. Our bowlers are very talented. They bowl year round and it's a great sport for special Olympics,” said Jill Bertelsen of the Area Six Special Olympics.

Bertelsen says some fo the top scorers bowled over a 200.
