WASHINGTON - A real estate blog just named the city the second most affordable place in Illinois.

The ranking is based on the price of food and utilities, unemployment rates and median home prices.

Washington got second because food prices and unemployment rates are both low.

Washington's mayor says he thinks rebuilding all the tornado-damaged homes may kick them off the top ten next year.

But for now, they are celebrating beating out other central Illinois cities.

"We'll take two. We're just ahead of Morton, so we always are rivals in football and basketball and softball and things. So it's always good to be ahead of a neighbor,” Mayor Gary Manier said.

Washington didn't only beat out Morton. They also were ahead of East Peoria and Pekin who made it in the top ten.

Number one on the list: Chatham, Illinois.
