PEORIA: A new event is coming to the Peoria riverfront this September… and it might just be the start of a new tradition.

On Sunday, September 7th, the Peoria Symphony Orchestra will be putting on a free concert.  It's called Symphony Sunday.

The concert starts at five, and it will feature a wide variety of music.  You may recognize some classics... and they’ll also play songs from the movies, like “Lincoln” and “Frozen.”

They're trying to appeal to the whole family.  You can pack a picnic and bring your favorite bottle of wine while you're getting in on the fun.

George Stelluto, Music Director of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, says, "Let's put it this way... if you brought a gourmet picnic with you on September 7th, and you had 7 great courses, the music would go right with that.  So that's the idea.  Everything from popcorn to filet mignon.”

Stelluto says that the event is casual, and to come on down to the riverfront in your jeans and a t-shirt.
