PEORIA – Students at Thomas Jefferson Primary School are taking action for Easter Seals in a campaign called “Coins for Kids.”

For 2 weeks, students raised more than $1,000 by bringing in loose change from around the house.
More than 500 students have participated.

Administrators say they’re proud that their students are helping those in need.

“They see the students with disabilities in the hall and they’re not treated any differently, but they want to help them,” says Principal Crystal Riddick. “It makes us proud and we want to make sure we’re always giving back.”

Students at Thomas Jefferson can donate through Wednesday.

That day, students can pay $1 to break the school dress code.
