Three people were injured in a three vehicle accident Thursday afternoon near Morton on the fog shrouded I 155 ramp from I 74 eastbound. According to state police, an International Harvester truck pulling a trailer, driven by 75 year old Bernard Sullivan of Clinton, a pickup truck driven by 29 year old Daniel Crumrine of Springfield and a minivan driven by 37 year old Emmanuel Foday of Morton were all merging onto the southbound ramp of I 155 during a heavy period of fog. State Police ticketed Sullivan for driving too fast for conditions and Sullivan apparently didn't see Crumrine in front of him. Crumrine moved his vehicle to the left in an attempt to avoid being struck by Sullivan. However, Sullivan also swerved to the left. Sullivan struck the rear of Crumrine's vehicle. The trailer Sullivan was pulling swung around and struck the rear of Foday's vehicle. Foday was traveling in front of Crumrine. The collision caused major damage to Sullivan's vehicle and trailer. Sullivan was hauling another pick up truck during the crash. The crash caused the southbound ramp to be closed while the vehicles were removed. Police say Deborah Foday and two infants in Foday's vehicle were transported to the hospital but treated and released.
