Lane closures are in effect until 3:30 Wednesday afternoon for the ramp taking westbound I-74 traffic to University Street and on southbound University Street near the I-74 ramp. The Illinois Department of Transportation crews are installing sign panels.
IDOT will close the left lane of westbound I-74 between Morton Avenue and I-155 from 5:30 p.m. Wednesday until 6:30 a.m. Thursday. The crews will be shifting westbound I‑74 traffic onto the center section of the new bridge over Jackson Street (US 150) in Morton. The closure will also allow for construction of the north sections of the bridges over Jackson Street and Jefferson Street.
Also, Jackson Street underneath the overpass at I-74 will be closed from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29th. Crews will remove the bridge carrying westbound I-74 over Jackson Street. That traffic will be routed onto Morton Avenue, Courtland Street, and Veterans Road. The overall project is the complete reconstruction of I-74 from Pleasant Hill Road to Morton Avenue in Tazewell County.
Please slow down and use extreme caution while driving through all work zones.
