NORMAL - It's once again time for a massive return of Redbirds to the campus of Illinois State University.

That means drivers making their way down College Avenue will need to be aware of several streets that are going to be blocked off or converted into one ways. On Monday, students returning to the residence halls were on campus. On Wednesday, the new freshmen class will join.

While it's a temporary pain for drivers, school officials say they've got it down to a science now, to minimize congestion issues.

"In the distant past, it used to be sort of a general, come one, come all, and a lot of people would show up very early in the morning and we would have traffic congestion but that was, that was a long time ago,” said ISU spokesman Eric Jome.

More than 6,200 are expected to move in before Sunday.
