The Salvation Army Tree of Lights campaign ended tonight with a celebration at the corps community headquarters.
Guests enjoyed food, fellowship, and music as awards were given out to the top volunteer bell ringers.
This year’s total was $1,600,029.
The Salvation Army says the total is $11,000 more than last year.
“We had the tornado that devastated central Illinois and we had a lot of people who donated to that. The Salvation Army raised over $780,000 for tornado relief as well. We're really very grateful for the community coming forward and helping us raise the most money we're ever raised at Christmas time,” said Rich Draeger of the Salvation Army.
Volunteers who assisted in disaster relief work were also recognized tonight.
