NORMAL- The streets are now closed off in Uptown Normal, as vendors are setting up for the annual Sweet Corn Festival.

A semi-truck filled with sweet corn will arrive early on Saturday, and Sunday.

And activities will be going on from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m on Sunday.

As part of the annual welcome back weekend, ISU students receive a free ear of sweet corn.

Event managers say it's a great way to incorporate the college kids back into the community.

"The cutest things that you'll ever see are the kids gobbling sweet corn and some of the most hilarious things you'll ever see are grown adults trying to shove as much sweet corn to into their mouths as they can in eight minutes,"added Joe Tulley, Uptown's Marketing Manager.

In case you're curious, the record for adults is 14 ears of corn.

The kids' record is 7.
