WASHINGTON - The City of Washington held its annual cleanup day Saturday.

It has been doing the annual spring cleaning for around a decade.

Volunteers helped pick up liter around public places within the city.

The city enjoys the spring cleanup, as spring is the time of year when garbage becomes more of an eyesore.

"This is geared toward those public areas of parks and the right-of-ways in the city, all those areas easily get garbage this time of year," said the city's Planning and Development Director Jon Oliphant. " You really don;t seeing it over a long Winter, until some time in the Spring."

Washington had four hundred volunteers cleaning up.
