"It's been so cold I've been training on the treadmill", says Laura Rose, who runs at the Five Points in Washington.
"There's something different about running outside that you don't get indoors", Rose says.
Coaches at Running Central in Peoria Heights say if your just getting started on training, take it slow and easy your way into longer runs.
Also you'll want to always stretch before and after a run to avoid injury.
The Run River City Marathon is May 18th and the Steam Boat Classic is June 14th.
