The YMCA declared today Kids Health Day.
Its doors were open to the public.
Children ages 5 and up were invited to play games and take classes.
Flag football, basketball, zumba, and taekwondo were just a few of the activities planned.
Organizers say the "Y" promotes a healthy lifestyle and encourages parents and children to go outside and exercise instead of sitting in front of a television.
Senior Program Director Paul Larson explains, “To help them get fit and also to get there family healthier. We are really committed to having youth fitness be our face at the forefront of Peoria.”
The YMCA's kids summer camp and swim team are currently enrolling.
