The planning and zoning commission approved a date extension for the purchase of the land. The deadline to purchase the land was June 30th, but the developer did not buy the land until July 8th.
City council approved the zoning for the project earlier this month, but because of the delay, they had to get the extension approved before construction can be started.
5th District Council Member Casey Johnson said, "Rather than leave any I's un-dotted or T's un-crossed, we just thought it would be better from a process stand point to have all loose ends tied up.”
The commission approved the complex unanimously. City Council will now vote on it at Tuesday’s meeting. If approved there, construction will begin.
