WMBDWYZZ-TV - NORMAL, Ill. -When he looks back at his four-year high school basketball career, Keita Bates-Diop has one big memory.

"My sophomore year, we went to state, said Bates-Diop "A lot of good memories, a lot of good guys. It was the beginning for us"

That may have been the start, but he's approaching the end. The senior's fourth and final postseason starts this week, marking the beginning of the end of Bates-Diop's splendid prep career.

"I think about it because I am nearing the end of my basketball high school career and my academics here at U-High," said Bates-Diop.

"We had a great young man, who happened to be a tremendous basketball player," said U-High coach Bob Fitzgerald. "People in our building and in the U-High community will always appreciate that. But his legacy has yet to be written."

His legacy includes being the school's all-time scoring leader, he reached that milestone in Friday night's regular season final. What he wants his legacy to include is a state championship before he starts concentrating on the next stop in his life -- Ohio State.

"I have no regrets about my four years here. I'm hoping to end on a good note," said Bates-Diop. "I'm not trying to think about it I'm trying to focus on here at high school. But it's definitely on my mind."

Keita Bates-Diop is hoping he still has a couple more weeks to make some high school memories.
