WMBD/WYZZ-TV - WASHINGTON, Ill - The Bears promised they'd return to Washington and they plan on making good on the promise Friday.
The Bears say roughly 100 members of the team, staff and front office will come to Washington to assist with tornado clean up. The Bears first came to town Dec. 4 to assist with relief efforts after a devastation tornado ripped through the Tazewell County town in mid-November.
The team will be part of a flag-raising ceremony at 9:45 a.m. on the town square then the group will focus on raking debris from homeowner properties, clearing rubble from the streets and providing other clean-up assistance for residents and the community.
Washington estimates 1,000 homes were damaged in the Nov. 17 tornado.
