Blues Buying Out Civic Center to Release Rivermen

WMBD/WYZZ-TV - PEORIA, Ill. -- The St. Louis Blues are pulling out of Peoria.

The Blues sent a notice of cancellation letter to the Civic Center to announce they will "cease to operate a professional hockey team at the Peoria Civic Center after the current 2012-2013 AHL season." The Blues had two years remaining on an agreement to keep their AAA minor league team playing in Peoria.

The NHL club will pay $90,000 to terminate the contract early. Tom Stillman, the Chiefs Executive Office of the Blues, will likely sell the Peoria Rivermen.
