WMBD/WYZZ-TV - BARTONVILLE, Ill - Limestone won eight regular season games and football playoff game for the first time in over 20 years last season.

Now the Rockets want to prove 2013 was no fluke.

"Basically, our kids got a taste of what it is like to win," said head coach Darin Driscoll. "We have had great summer attendance. We don't have a huge senior class this year, but we've got six or eight that are great leaders."

Limestone returns key veterans in Jaylon Moore (linebacker) and Walker Miller (defensive end) on defense. Moore (running back), Calvin Peacock (receiver) and James Welton (quarterback) are expected to key the offense.

"Last year we had a lot of doubters, and it is kind of the same thing this year because so many seniors graduated last year," said senior lineman Jed Haage. "I think we do better when people start doubting us because it gives us motivation to prove them wrong."

Limestone opens at home Aug. 29 against Macomb.
