WMBD/WYZZ-TV - PEORIA, Ill - The first goal was met last year.
Now it's time for the Peoria High School football team to meet another.
Last fall the Lions made the playoffs for the first time since 1995. Now they want to make the playoffs a regular destination.
"It boosted our confidence a lot," said senior running back B.J. Harris. "I feel like we put alot of hard work on our football program, and I feel like it will payoff this season."
The Lions have arguably the most athletic team in Peoria heading into the 2014 season.
"I mean they are coming together, and they work hard," said head coach Tim Thornton. "It's a good group of kids. It was a good group of kids last year, and the efforts are showing up on the field."
Peoria High opens the season at Rock Island Alleman on Aug. 29.
