WMBD/WYZZ-TV - NORMAL, Ill. -- What a year for Normal West in 2010.

Seven wins, including victories over intercity rivals Normal Community and Bloomington, and a playoff berth. But the player that led the Wildcats to the postseason isn't around anymore.

Quarterback Tyler Marcordes graduated and is now at Georgia Tech.

"Bottom line is you prep your guys with last year's schemes," said West head coach Darren Hess. "It'll be different without Tyler in there but I feel we'll respond."

Marcordes' likely replacement is junior Alex Jefferson.

"I think we're balancing it out a little bit since we lost Tyler," said senior running back Cory Ortiz. ". Alex will be in the mix, throwing a bit more maybe."

West opens the season at home against Champaign Centennial on Aug. 26.
