WMBD/WYZZ-TV - PEORIA, Ill.  - Vince Cicciarelli brought defending national champ Notre Dame to his hometown for a soccer exhibition game against Bradley and he left with broken nose.

But he seemed pretty happy.

"I've seen a picture, it's pretty crooked," said Cicciarelli.

Notre Dame and Bradley played to a 2-2 draw Tuesday night at Shea Stadium in the annual Danny Dahlquist Memorial Game. The preseason game was billed as a "Challenge of Champions" since Bradley is the reigning Missouri Valley champ.

"We knew we'd get a gritty game out of Bradley, we knew their game plan, we knew it'd be tough regardless of how hard we played. We knew this is a team we could see wearly in the NCAA Tournament," said Cicciarelli."

The ND senior led his Peoria Notre Dame soccer team to a state championship in 2010. He was given a loud cheer by the record crowd of 3,099 when he was introduced.

"It was awesome, unbelievable. It's awesome to see how much the Peoria area supports soccer, let alone Notre Dame coming out. They showed us a great crowd and a great atmosphere," said Cicciarelli. Couldn't ask for a better night."
