Dunlap Success 'Contagious' For Athletes

DHS Football, Cross Country Winning Big

DUNLAP, Ill. - The place to be this fall is Dunlap.

The Eagles just won their first state cross country title when the girls team ran away from the field at Detweiller park to capture the Class 2A crown. A few hours later, the football team won a second round playoff game and advanced to its first state quarterfinal.

"Dunlap has something going on right now," said football coach Brett Cazalet. "I am so proud of our girls, that cross country team, they worked so hard. Our boys have worked so hard. There's so many other clubs and teams.  It's contagious right now. What a great environment to coach. and work and teach in. It's amazing around here."

The football team will host Country Club Hills Hillcrest in the Class 5A state quarters Saturday at 4 p.m.

"I think our defense is even stronger than our offense right now. It's our strongest suit and we're going to keep riding it for the rest of the playoffs," said junior defensive lineman Josiah Miamen. "We pay with passion, we play hard and we are ready every week. No team is going to come out and surprise us with what they do. That's why we win."
