Football Arrives: Practice Now Underway

Teams Open Fall Practice Monday

PEORIA, Ill. - It felt like fall on Monday and it didn't have anything to do with the unseasonably mild temperatures.

High school football practice started.

"It's really just getting back into the mode of football, getting used to getting up in the morning," said Dee-Mack senior Connor Craig. "I'm really excited to get back, I've missed football since last season ended."

Dee-Mack won the Class 2A state championship in 2016. But state championship teams aren't the only ones excited to return to the field.

"In the locker room before practice started this morning, we were all jittery and excited, yelling and stuff," said Washington junior Cole Ludolph. "It's a great time, we are looking forward to this season."

Teams will practice without pads until Saturday. The first night of games is Aug. 25.

"This is the day that sets us off for the season and it tells us where we are at and what we need to work on," said Normal Community senior Dalton Tevis.
