WMBD/WYZZ-TV - WHEATON, Ill. - Naperville's Ray Knoll won the Illinois State Amateur golf championship in a playoff Thursday at Cantigny Golf Club.
The 18-year-old Knoll beat Northbrook's Nick Hardy in a four-hole playoff. Knoll, who is a University of Iowa recruit, and Hardy, a University of Illinois golfer, finished tied at -8.
Central Illinois' top performers were Peoria's Jordan Fahel of Illinois State and Eureka's Trevor Gold who tied for 16th and finishing +6 for the championship.
