WMBD/WYZZ-TV - METAMORA, ILL. - He knows his tennis history.

And will Will Koehrsen hopes to make more of it this week.

"Think about all the great guys that have come through here, Brock Reiman, Stephan Rau," said Koehrsen. "They never got medals. It's great."

Last spring, he brought home a state medal in doubles, the first in Metamora history, the first in Mid-Illini Conference history.

This week, he'll try and earn a medal in singles as the ulta-competitive senior heads to state for a fourth straight year.

"Now looking back on it, it's pretty amazing to say I did get that all four years," said Koehrsen.

His coach has another perspective.

"He won't let you win. It doesn't matter if it's rock, scissors, paper," said Metamora coach Kelly Willard. Or taking a physics test, he's not going to let you win. That's inside of him. It's kinda hard to teach."

Winning conference and sectional titles started when he was a 15-year-old freshman. All he really wanted to do then was match his older sister's three sectional trophies.

This week he earned his fourth.

"It's still a great feeling this year. I guess four is a pretty good accomplishment," said Koehrsen. "My sister had three. I wanted to get that fourth one to beat her, you know?"
