Olivia Sonetz Dies After Two-Car Crash

NORMAL, Ill. - Normal West High School is mourning the death of a popular softball player.

Olivia Sonetz, 17, died Wednesday after being involved in a two-car accident in Normal on Tuesday night.

"Livi Sonetz will be forever remembered by her teammates and coaches as a fiesty, passionate competitor," said Normal West softball coach April Schermann. "She was the life of the party and her infectious personality made everyone smile and laugh.  She was determined to become a leader, prove everyone wrong, and never give up.  We will live on for Livi."

Sonetz was a starter on the first team to earn the Wildcats a state softball trophy, the 2016 Class 4A runner-up. She had signed to play at Heart Community College after graduating from high school
