PEORIA - Ozzie Smith, Cardinals Hall of Famer had some words of wisdom for Chiefs players when he visited Dozer Park.
"Got to develop a good work ethic. I think at this level, kids probably have somewhere they want to go, have somewhere they are reaching for," said Ozzie Smith, Cardinals Hall of Famer.
Hopefully reaching for the majors, where he says is starting to return to the way he remembers it. No PED's. Only hard work.
"We've seen over the last three years is it is coming back to normal," said Smith. "Always will be people who challenge system and get away with whatever you can get away with."
After 19 seasons and 13 gold gloves, the Wizard spends his time acting as a Cardinals ambassador now, and even helps out in Spring Training. He made one thing clear. He doesn't want to become a manager."
"When you start managing, and start coaching you spend more time at the ballpark than you did as a player," said Smith. "I think for us that played 19-20 years, to get away from the game and enjoy life and family a little more."
Even if there is no future in management for the Wizard, we'll always have the memories.
