Prep Football Players Love Friday Nights

Season Kicks Off, Players Can't Wait

PEORIA, Ill. - Ask any football player what their favorite day of the week is. It's Friday.

"Every coach that I've talked to, they say that if they could go back and play one play at any level, it would be on Friday night. It would be the one they choose," said Normal Community senior Dalton Tevis. "I'm not going to take that for granted."

Teams have been practicing since Aug. 7. The season kicks off Friday.

"It's a big deal. We fill the stands and everybody comes out to cheer, you've got the music going loud," said Stark County senior Cade Tuthill. "You don't want to let down your community. It's a big deal around here. You go out and give it your all, it's a fun time."

The Friday night lights, which have been off since last November, will be bright across the sky in central Illinois.

"I started going to these Friday night games when I was in grade school," said Metamora senior Chris Leanos. 'I looked and it was awesome. I wanted to be a part of that. Now that I'm a part of that, it's something really special."
