NORMAL,Ill. - Sophomore Nia Williams and Jaida McCloud went 4-for-4 at the foul line in the final minute to push Peoria Richwoods past Glenbard South, 38-34, in the Class 3A girls basketball state semifinals at Redbird Arena on Friday.
The Knights (34-1) will play LaGrange Park Nazareth Academy in the state finals at 12:45 p.m. Saturday. Nazareth (31-2) beat Breese Central, 58-25, in the other state semifinal.
Williams was fouled while driving to the basket with 0:47 left and calmly sank both free throws. On Glenbard South's next possession, Williams came up with a steal and gave the bal up to McCloud who was fouled with :04 left and sank her free throws.
Senior Kourtney Crane scored 11 points for the Knights, who trailed by a point at halftime but held Glenbard South to 16 points in the second half. Fellow Richwoods All-Stater Camryn Taylor was in foul trouble most of the game and finishes with eight points and four rebounds.
Raiders junior All-State forward Maggie Bair had 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Raiders (29-4).
