Seasoned Washington Ready To Prowl

Boot Camp: Washington High School

WASHINGTON, Ill. - A year ago Washington made it to the state quarterfinals with six sophomores in the lineup.

The Panthers were young and banged up. Now they're healthy, experienced and among the team leaders.

"This push we get from younger (players), the more competition there is on the field during practice, the greater we'll be on Friday nights," said junior Cole Ludolph, who played 11 games as a sophomore in 2016.

Quarterback Caleb Fisher started as a sophomore. His older brothers Austin (Class of 2008) and Isaac (2012) were successful quarterbacks for the Panthers

"We're going to be set for a few years now," said senior Logan Klein. "And it's really good that the underclassmen are pushing the guys that are older. It just gets everyone better."

The Panthers open the season Aug. 25 at Mahomet-Seymour.
