Stewart Signs First Deal with LA

WMBD/WYZZ-TV - NORMAL, Ill. - Brock Stewart is officially a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers organization.

The former Normal West and Illinois State star signed his first pro baseball contract Monday night Now he's on his way to Arizona to work with other 2014 draft picks at the Dodgers spring training facility.

He didn't pitch this past season at ISU but Stewart was drafted in the sixth round as a pitcher.

"I never thought I'd be drafted as a pitcher, since I haven't pitched a lot since high school,"' said Stewart. "I'll be a pitcher and I'm looking forward to it. I've always known my arm is my best tool. Let's go out there and see if I can use it to my advantage. And see how far it takes me."

Stewart was 3-2 with a 2.35 earned run average at ISU last season. He won a key game for the Redbirds in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament last month.
