CENTRAL ILLINOIS - Ameren Illinois is busy working to get the power back on.
They say their first priority is to get the power lines cleaned up.
They warn that most knocked down power lines are live and considered dangerous.
Once they get the power lines cleaned up they will be able to assess the damage and work to get power restored.
“Want to assure our customers that we will bring all the resources necessary to make sure that were able to assess the situation and to be able to provide power as quickly as we can, as safely as we can. But it’s important to note that with a storm of this magnitude, we are likely looking at a multiday outage, “ said Tucker Kennedy of Ameren Illinois.
Ameren has called in additional crews from around the Midwest in order to get power back on as quickly as possible.
