NORMAL - An Illinois State University student moved out of his apartment after waking up to rushing water from a burst pipe this morning.

ISU Junior Lloyd Windham says he woke up around 4 a.m. Tuesday to rushing water coming from the ceiling of his residence inside Heartland Village.

Windham says he called maintenance and tried to soak up what he could with towels. The apartment staff is dealing with a number of weather-related complaints and has been working with Windham to clean up his place.

But Windham says he's still frustrated that he likely lost a number of electronics in an incident that wasn't his fault.

"I'm really shocked because this really isn't my fault. It's from the upstairs apartments and I'm just in the downstairs apartment where it came to,” said Windham.

Windham does not have renter's insurance. Apartment officials say he's been relocated to a different apartment within Heartland Village. Officials say the apartment buildings are about five years old and had never faced the types of temperatures that hit the area this week.
