Bartonville Offering Fingerprinting for Concealed Carry Applicants

BARTONVILLE – Authorities are doing their part for a smooth transition into concealed carry.
BARTONVILLE – Authorities are doing their part for a smooth transition into concealed carry.
The department is opening its doors to local applicants in need of fingerprinting. Only Bartonville residents can use the service for now.
The live-scan fingerprinting technology records and runs applicant's information through state and national records. Bartonville police already use the tool for background checks and various security measures.
Brian Fengel, Bartonville police chief, says his department wants to ease the process for applicants.
"We've kind of been working on it for about 4 months. In that time period, the law has changed three times I believe, so we're just trying to adapt and change with the new laws and provisions,” Fengel said.
Applicants must have a background check registered before permits are available on January 5.
