Bartonville Police Make Series of Arrests

BARTONVILLE - Four young adults are behind bars, and another is in the hospital, after Bartonville Police made a series of arrests Tuesday.

Police arrived at 113 Roosevelt around 3:30 p.m. after receiving a call of battery when they saw a man leaving the residence with a black backpack.

Police say the suspect tried to discard the bag. When police recovered it they say they found items inside used to make methamphetamine.

Police found cocaine, heroin and other methamphetamine related items inside the home.

Thirty-two-year-old Robert Searle was arrested and charged with two counts of battery, aggravated participation in a methamphetamine production, unlawful possession of methamphetamine manufacturing materials, possession of methamphetamine, and conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine. 

Michael Harris, 28, is charged with participation in a methamphetamine production, unlawful possession of methamphetamine manufacturing materials, and conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.

Jacob Schmidt, 26, and Melissa Cromie, 23, are charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Cassandra Whitman, 25, was transported to OSF and her charges are still pending.

Illinois State Police, Peoria's MEG Unit, and a department of corrections officer all assisted in the investigation.
