A Bloomington driver, who was charged in connection with a fatal accident last year, was convicted Friday following a bench trial of the remaining two charges of leaving the scene of an accident. 21 year old Katie Lawson had recently pleaded guilty to the other ten charges against her. Lawson pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated DUI, four counts of misdemeanor DUI, driving with a suspended license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Those charges stem from a hit and run accident in which Eastern Illinois University student Lauren Leffler of Bloomington was killed. Lawson will be sentenced January 17th and could face from 7 to 29 years in prison, according to prosecutor Jeff Horve.
