Bloomington Names New Performing Arts Director

BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts now has a new director.
BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts now has a new director.

Tina Salamone will take over next month, after working in Iowa and Joliet, Ill., for a number of years.

It was an extensive search, with candidates even applying from as far away as Australia. Department officials say Salamone was a good fit because of her technical background, and wide range of experience booking shows and fundraising.

“She's really a very collaborative individual, brings a lot of passion, lot of energy to us. She's going to work very well with our staff, our commission and our community,” said John Kennedy, director of parks, recreation and cultural arts for Bloomington.

Salamone's first day on the job will be Dec. 2. The center had been without a full-time director since August.
