WMBD/WYZZ-TV - ELMWOOD, Ill. - The seniors on the Elmwood-Brimfield football team know they have big shoes to fill.
The last two Trojans teams have marched through undefeated regular seasons.
"Having another 9-0 season is really big for us," said senior center Sam Warner. "It will be a real disappointment if we lose a game this year and we are really looking to go 9-0 and deep in the playoffs."
E-B opens football practice in the shadow of the last two teams which sent the school to the state quarterfinals. Both the 2011 and 2012 teams went 10-1.
"Our older guys are doing a real nice job of letting the younger guys know whats going on and they mentor them pretty well," said head coach Todd Hollis. "They take that pretty series they are gonna leave a legacy and in four years when they come back things are going well they had a part of that."
Elmwood-Brimfield hosts Peoria Heights in the season opener Aug. 30.
