WMBD/WYZZ-TV - NORMAL, Ill. - The Ironmen have 160 players out for football this fall.
It might seem like all of them play defense.
"Right now when you look at our team defensively, we have experience coming back with seven returing starters," said Normal Community head coach Wes Temples. "With a number as seniors. That's the great thing about high school football is that a kid who hasn't has the opportunity, be it a senior or junior, steps up."
Normal Community's six-win season last year earned the school it's 17th straight playoff appearance. The players expect to be playing in an 18th straight postseason this fall.
"I feel like we've had a great sumer so far," said senior running back Jerry Patton. "Our expectations are always high. We work very hard in the summer and we feel like it'll be a great year."
NCHS opens the season Aug. 30 at Urbana.
