WMBD/WYZZ-TV - PEKIN, Ill. -- The Dragons feel like they have the weapons.
Pekin has nine starters, including quarterback Chase Pooley and receiver Cole Henderson, back. And eight starting defensive players back from a team that made the playoffs for a second straight year in 2012.
That has Pekin talking about a conference title and more in 2013.
"we're capable of a lot," said Poole. "We have high expectations for this year. We're hoping for three yeas back-to-back going to playoffs. I think we have group to do that. Should make a run for Mid-Illini conference, that's for sure."
Pekin could make the playoffs for a third straight year for the first time in a decade.
"Got a lot of guys back from last year that started week one or week nine. Even week 10, so we have a lot of excitement here," said head coach Doug Nutter. "Main thing is our guys got to get better."
Pekin opens the season at home vs Alton on Aug. 30.
