NORMAL - The defending Corn Belt champs return half of their starters from a year ago and are rich in the skilled positions.
At the top of the list is quarterback Arion Worthman. He's only a junior and ready to challenge for another conference title.
"I think people have higher expectations for me this year because I had a good year last year," said Arion Worthman, U-High Quarterback. "Personally I put a lot of pressure on myself. I expect results on myself. I feel like I can do whatever coach Burke asks me to do. Whatever is going to help them get first downs and win ball games."
"We have a lot of skill guys, but upfront we lost a lot of big lineman, so we're smaller but that is going to make us more technically sound," said Jamaal Scott, U-High Senior Lineman.
The Pioneers open against Morton on Friday.
