SEVILLE - A bridge collapse sends a train crashing into a Fulton County river.
Crews are figuring out how to remove six train cars from Spoon River in Seville. The bridge broke down around 4:30 p.m. Monday.
The train was en route to Peoria and carried mostly corn syrup.  No one is injured.
Shane Cullen, vice president of transportation for Keokuk Junction Railway, says the bridge is more than 100 years old. According to Cullen, the bridge was inspected within the last few months, and that inspection found no significant damage
Residents tell WMBD 31 News they are relieved no one was under the bridge when it collapsed.
"You know there's trains going across there all the time,” said Michelle Stufflebeam. “It could have collapsed. It's pretty scary. I mean they are on that river regularly. Down here there's somebody on that river all the time.”
The wreck is under investigation and clean-up should start Wednesday.
