Burns Helping Limestone Burn Opponents

Lorenzo Burns leading unbeaten Rockets

WMBD/WYZZ-TV - BARTONVILLE, Ill. - Lorenzo Burns has a message for basketball-loving central Illinois.

"Limestone Rockets are looking to make noise," said the Limestone senior. "It's going to be fun. You've got to come out and watch."

The Rockets are unbeaten through the first month of their season and their Mid-Illini goal is stil lin tact.

"We want to go undefeated, actually," said Burns. "That's the main goal, win conference, go undefeated."

Burns is one of three starters back from the Limestone team that went to state in March. Now in his second season as the point guard, he's become the player the Rockets look to for leadership

"He's a born leader," said Limestone coach Eddie Mathews. "The way he goes, the mood he puts on the bus, on the bench, in the locker room, is the one the team takes to the floor."

And Burns doesn't mind that role at all.

"A lot of guys look up to me," said Burns. "I've got to set a good example and show them the right way to play."

Yes, players do look up to the 5-foot-10 Burns. He's hoping teams will be looking up at Limestone in the standings all season long.
