PEORIA - A Washington business owner is being recognized for his volunteer efforts after last month’s tornadoes.
Stan Cohen is the owner of Firehouse Pizza.
While his store was not damaged in the storm, he did lose power and remained closed for more than a week.
Cohen took advantage of his time off and began volunteering.
He donated all the food from his shop for meals for storm victims and then helped with food preparation.
Today the Salvation Army honored him for his special service.
"Served a lot of people and gave some people some normalcy in a time when they had none. It was an amazing experience. I made a lot of new friends and it's been amazing,” said Stan Cohen, Firehouse Pizza Owner
Cohen helped prepare around 30,000 meals.
